Concise British Flora - W Keble Martin 1969
SOLD
This notebook uses traditional heritage hand binding techniques to create a quarter binding with a flatback spine and hand stitched pages.
The cover reuses a vintage printed page from the original exhausted book by W Keble Martin. The new green cloth has a tight weave and smooth texture in a matt natural finish.
On opening the notebook you will find, branded, Chartreuse textured endpapers with a ribbon bookmark taking you to the certificate of authentication which doubles as a place to personalise your notebook, carrying forward age old traditions of prize givings, birthdays and christmas mesages often found written on the inside covers of old books.
Now we come to the heart of the binding, the stitched bookblock. The stitching, in a white linen thread, is unobtrusive mainly seen when the notebook is opened flat from the middle. On flicking through the pages you will discover, between the thick pale cream leaves, reused salvaged pages from an exhausted copy of 'Concise British Flora'. The combined new and old materials create a fresh lease of life for the beautiful and interesting images otherwise unwanted and destined for pulping.
Ideal for writing and sketching with dry materials.
